how to choose a recipe

As you are thinking about trying fresh food for your dog, you might be wondering “How do I choose the best recipe for my canine kid?” Maybe you have a picky eater or a sensitive tummy on your hands and don’t know which recipe might be best. Here are a few tips for recipe selection:

  1. Select a protein similar to the one your dog currently enjoys.

Reference your dog’s current food to find out what type of protein they are eating. Choosing a protein similar to the one your dog is eating is a step towards ensuring a smooth transition and a recipe they will find tasty. For example if your dog is eating duck, they might enjoy either our Chicken Chow-Wow or Tasty Turkey Fare. If they are eating bison, our Heartland Beef Mash might be best. For any of our pescatarian pups out there, we recommend our Porkalicious Potluck which was formulated for dogs with allergies and food sensitivities.

  1. Take note of any allergies.

Does your dog have food allergies? Steer clear of recipes that have any ingredients that are known allergies for your pup.

  1. Request samples.

If you have selected a recipe that fit all of the above criteria but still aren’t quite sure your picky pup will enjoy the food, simply email us at [email protected] and request samples of our other recipes in your first delivery for your dog to try!

  1. Need a prescription diet?
