This Thursday, we’re turning the spotlight on a special adoption partner: The Green Dog Rescue Project! Based in Santa Rosa, CA, The Green Dog Rescue Project’s mission is to rebuild hope for homeless dogs.
Their non-kennel facility provides rescue, care, housing, and medical and behavioral rehabilitation to dogs in need, while also working to build a better shelter system that supports homeless dogs’ needs. This includes programs that provide education and training to sheltering industry professionals and volunteers, and has already saved many dogs from euthanasia.
How to Support The Green Dog Project
Want to support The Green Dog Rescue Project? Here are a few of the ways you can!
- Send kids to their educational summer camp which helps children learn about caring for dogs, while also preparing dogs for adoption
- Foster dogs or puppies waiting for their forever homes
- Volunteer at events, at the rescue, or provide resources for marketing
- Adopt your next best friend!
Here are 5 dogs currently up for adoption. Who will you be taking home?!

Ever have that feeling of being misunderstood? I am a hound mix and sometimes I love to follow my nose and sometimes I do not. The one thing I do know to be true is I love to be with people, especially people who love the sound of my voice. Walking with a partner is one of the highlights of my day. When I meet someone new I can be a bit on the shy side and if does take me time to warm up. To know the breed is to love me. I need to be an only dog though, as other dogs tend to get me to wound up. If you have a large yard, or a large couch and love a Coonhound mix, please come and visit me.
Lacie is approximately 2 years of age and weighs 65 pounds. Up to date on all vaccines, spayed and microchipped.

Meet Bones. Hiker extraordinaire and loves to spend time with people. Especially if you like to teach him new games. A perfect day for Bones, taking a long hike, working on his training, getting a couple of naps in snuggled on your lap. Bones prefers not to share his home with other dogs or cats. Does your family love to go on adventures and have a canine companion by your side? You might be the perfect match for goofy Bones.
Bones is approximately 1 year of age and weighs 60 pounds. My adoption comes with a free training.
Bones can be viewed at Green Dog Rescue Project. (More details.)
